This page is dedicated to all the dogs that have touched our lives along with every foster family and adopter that chose rescue.

What does Look Back mean?  Look Back is the command given to the Border Collie by the handler after already gathering sheep, to leave the hard earned flock and go look for more lost sheep.  To be willing to leave the flock for more sheep requires deep trust in the handler. Together, teamwork completes the task of bringing all of the sheep to safety. If you adopt from a rescue, you have rescued the next orphan and you are part of the team.

Adoption Day...

is a day of conflict for the foster family.  It is what we work for, but it is still happy/sad.  Each dog takes a bit of our heart with them.  So we are very grateful to all of the wonderful adopters that have come into our lives over the years.  You have been gentle on our hearts, stayed in touch and have given great homes to our little charges.  It's due to you that the bits of our heart heal and grow.  You are all truly part of the Look Back Team.

Bogey

Bogey and Bacall, A Tue Love Story

Shorty and Bacall met at Look Back Rescue and were bonded more deeply than we realized.  Shorty was adopted first in June, but took a long time to come out of his shell.  Bacall was depressed for months.  We changed her foster home and she made progress, but was still quiet and wouldn’t play.  Bacall was adopted in late September and continued to make progress and even started to play a little with her toys.  We felt bad that they had to go through so much, but it seemed like both were going to make it in their new lives.  But, this love story has a truly happy ending.  It came to pass that Shorty could not stay in his new home and came back into rescue.  Bacall’s humans wanted them to meet to see if the spark was still there.  Yes, it was and dreams do come true.  The new family decided to change Shorty’s name to Bogey, which seems perfect for this Borgie (BC/Corgi mix) that fell in love with his beautiful Bacall.
